The Sales Manager is a fully competent individual who has experience in the sales process and function of a hotel. Responsibilities include selling guest rooms, meeting space and other Hyatt services to customer groups, managing accounts, and conducting site inspections, solicits and generates business. Duties also include preparing and presenting effective proposals, maintaining well organized documentation and reports, utilizes Hyatt systems and coordinates customer service requirements as appropriate. The Sales Manager will also participate and may lead event meetings, sales and other staff meetings. The Sales Manager also works as a team member with the sales and event staff and in close contact with the Sales Coordinator.
* A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment
* Refined verbal and written communication skills. Prefer selling, negotiating, business writing and presentation skills
* A minimum of 1-3 years of hotel sales or comparable experience preferred
* Experience working the Corporate Travel market with deep dives into companies to ensure that all potential contacts for both travel and meetings are uncovered
* Lead generation for transient, group, events and restaurant business
* Experience with film production and entertainment studios a plus
* Familiarity with travel agencies including knowledge of their booking systems (i.e. Sabre, Worldspan)
* Knowledge and experience working the Leisure and Luxury markets, including luxury consortia and high-end luxury agencies
* Proficiency in Word, Excel and general computer knowledge, as well as writing and presentation skills
* Familiarity and analytical skills with Lanyon and TravelClick
* Marketing background is a bonus for "selling" negotiated rates to ensure market share
